Digitalisation

Future-Oriented – Making Effective Use of Resources

ZVK GmbH is participating in a Bavarian collaborative research programme (BayVFP) funded by the Free State of Bavaria under the “Digitalisation” funding initiative.

The project is developing an approach for translating between item data and product data. This enables us to manage item data for internal use and product data for external systems. Based on this translation approach, various AI algorithms are being developed and evaluated to improve planning and procurement processes.

These include an algorithm for extracting item information from product orders, an algorithm for automatically generating product-level rules and recommendations from item data for use in product configurators, and an algorithm for forecasting demand using both item and product data.

In addition to this research programme, ZVK GmbH has already taken a major step towards digitalisation with its proprietary FODH configurator.

Customers can configure the required fibre-optic trunk cable at https://www.easylan.de/konfigurator.html

Once the order has been completed, the configuration is automatically transferred to the ERP system as an order. During this process, the bill of materials and corresponding production routing are created automatically in the background, while the available production capacity is also checked. Following a brief contract review, manufacturing can begin immediately.

By making effective use of these digital processes, we can deliver a fully assembled fibre-optic trunk cable with up to 144 fibres within five working days, while reducing the error rate to virtually zero.
